Pablo Garcia, an assistant professor of contemporary practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Golan Levin, an associate professor of computation arts at Carnegie Mellon University, have created the modern-day version of a camera lucida, called a NeoLucida. Though the optical aids that were used hundreds of year ago have mostly been replaced with computers and digital tools, two university art professors are determined to bring a classic 19th-century device back into use.
